The mission of 3BC is “To promote and develop amateur basketball in the community of Templeton.” We exist to share the love of basketball. We strive to create opportunities where Templeton kids build their basketball skills, build team cohesion in the off-season, and compete at a high level. At the same time we strive to keep cost (participation and travel) for families as reasonable as possible. In this way we are unlike most club programs. We want to give back to the town and the game that gave so much to us and therefore we desire to see our amazing community, our teams, and, most importantly, our children reach championship levels.
We are committed to creating a return on your investment. As we all know it takes time, talent, and treasure to have a child participate in any athletic program and we want to make sure you see value beyond what you put in. We therefore have three levels of intended return:
Immediate Outcome- Players are introduced to a growth mindset. We will help each player fall in love with the process of getting better. We will realistically assess each player's skills and provide opportunities to develop the work ethic it takes to be successful in life and on the court.
Intermediate Outcome- Each player will be a better teammate and develop in key basketball skill areas. Players will be more prepared for their 2024-2025 seasons.
Long-Term Impact- Players will walk across the stage as HS graduates, be successful adults, and give back to our community in a positive way. It does us no good to create great basketball players who are also not great people. If your child (player) is not fulfilling their responsibilities at home or at school, please let us know and we will “support” driving home the importance of being great at these things over putting a ball in a hoop.
3BC is for…
…kids attending or planning to attend TUSD schools.
…kids currently in 3rd through 11th grades.
…kids who want to develop their game/skills.
…kids who want to compete at a high level.
***If you don’t currently attend a TUSD School, please contact us before signing-up***
We seek to be competitive and play at a high level. This requires that players (and families) commit to consistently attending training, practice, and games/tournaments. We cannot compete in games/tournaments if kids do not regularly attend training and practice sessions.
We have multiple levels of participation that balance the level of commitment a player/family desires to make. Some players will only participate in 3BC Skill Sessions, some will participate in 3BC Skill Sessions and Team Practices, some will participate in 3BC Skill Sessions, Team Practices, and play in Tournaments/Games, and others might do more.
Please also know that in our community, we believe it is imperative that we support multiple sports athletes. We think this is good for our community but also believe that playing multiple sports creates better all-around athletes and better basketball players. We just ask that there is proactive and clear communication so we know when to expect your child to be present and when they will not be present. Lastly, if you want to join and play with another club that is more active and pushes basketball only, we support you in that. But to be clear, that is not who we are. When it comes to basketball club teams, we ask you to choose Bad Bird Basketball or another club. We are not looking for players who want to be a part-time Bad Bird. We are trying to build a successful basketball program with athletes who are committed to our community.
